Delight with record marks and first Medal

September 28, 2017sligotown

Sligo Tidy Towns Chairman Mr Peter Tiernan & Forman Chairman Mr. Jim Lawlor are presented with a Bronze Medal

At the Sligo Tidy Towns Awards Ceremony at the Helix, Dublin, yesterday Monday, Sligo Tidy Towns were awarded record marks of 301, an increase for 2017 of 16 marks. The previous highest increase in marks was 12 in 2016. They were also awarded their first  Bronze Medal.
Peter Tiernan, who took over as Chairman a year ago, said he was delighted with the results, which were a tribute to the present team, and their dozens of volunteers.
He said the results were built on the work of previous teams, and their Chairpeople, Jim Lawlor, Des Faul, and Gerry Moore.
Mr Tiernan said that some exciting new projects, as well as the completion of projects already in train, should lead to a continual improvement in their awards in the next 2 or 3 years.
